Head Tracking

1 min read

Head Tracking is a way for users to interact with the screen without direct touch. iOS Head Tracking uses the device’s front facing camera to track head movements and facial expressions as a mode of interaction.

Flexspeak has full compatibility with iOS Head Tracking. Use Head Tracking to control a pointer and activate any item without touching the screen.

Set up Head Tracking

  1. Go to iOS Settings.
  1. Navigate to Accessibility > Switch Control
  1. Set Scanning Style to Auto Scanning.
  1. Set Switch Control Mode to Head Tracking.
  1. Under the Point Scanning section, select Head Tracking.
  1. Toggle Head Tracking to ON.
  1. Set up actions based on the user’s most reliable face movements (e.g., set Raise Eyebrows to Select Item). If no face movements are consistent and reliable, consider setting Dwell to Select Item.
  1. [Optional] Adjust other Head Tracking settings as needed, including pointer speed or action sensitivity.
  1. Navigate back to Switch Control settings page.
  1. At the top of the Switch Control page, toggle Switch Control to ON to start Head Tracking.
