FAQs

How can we view how many seats are left in our school?

Navigate to the Account Management dashboard and select "License Information" to view your total seats, used seats, and available seats.

Can we customize the assessment activities?

Yes, you can adjust the number of screens, select target icons that motivate the student, and choose the language for assessment.

Is the assessment available in multiple languages?

Yes, the assessment is available in all 70 languages and dialects supported by Flexspeak, making it accessible for multilingual users.

How is student data handled?

All student data is encrypted and stored securely in compliance with FERPA regulations. Data is only accessible to authorized users within your organization.

What happens when students graduate or transfer?

You can easily transfer students to different schools within your district or archive their accounts while retaining their data for future reference.

Can data be shared across a team?

Yes, multiple professionals can be granted access to a student's profile, allowing for collaborative care and consistent implementation.

How do I lock or hide a vocabulary page so it doesn't navigate away?

Go into Edit mode, press "Hide" on the top utility bar, then select the tile you want to hide. This prevents users from navigating away from a specific page. If you also want to hide system controls like the Settings button, you can use Guided Access, a built-in iPad feature. See Apple's Guided Access guide for setup instructions.

How do I access comparatives and superlatives (e.g., faster, fastest)?

Flexspeak now has built-in support for comparatives and superlatives! When you long-press or select an adjective tile (like "fast"), you'll see grammar options that include the comparative form (e.g., "faster") and the superlative form (e.g., "fastest"). This works automatically for supported adjectives across all languages where grammar forms are available.

You can also still add custom vocabulary tiles with specific forms if you'd prefer a dedicated tile on your grid.

What are Community Templates and GoTalk Templates?

Flexspeak Studio now includes pre-built templates you can apply to your grid in a few clicks. Community Templates (like Connect Scene, Connect 9, Connect 25, Token Board, Make a Choice, and To Do/Finished) give you ready-made communication layouts for common use cases. GoTalk Templates (GoTalk 4+, GoTalk 9+, GoTalk 20+, and GoTalk Connect) mirror the popular Attainment Company layouts, so you can create consistent materials across high-tech and mid-tech AAC tools. Browse all templates from the Studio dashboard under Templates.

How do I set or change my unlock passcode?

Go to Settings > Security and select Edit Unlock Passcode. You can set a new passcode or change an existing one. This is useful for educators or parents who want to prevent accidental changes to the grid while a student is using the app.
