Quick Folder

Quick Folder creates a new vocabulary folder on the AAC grid from a topic you type. Flexspeak suggests words and symbols. You review them, then save the folder onto an empty tile.

Use this when you want a whole folder at once. To add words one at a time, see Add a custom word or folder.

Overview

• Start from an empty tile in Edit Mode

• Type a topic, such as gardening or cooking

• Review suggested words and choose which ones to keep

• Add your own words or edit a word and its image before you save

• Create Folder places the new folder on the tile you tapped

Create a Quick Folder

1. Open a board page that has at least one empty tile.

2. Tap the Edit icon to turn on Edit Mode. If a passcode is set, enter it when Unlock Edit Mode appears.

3. Tap an empty tile.

4. In the Edit Empty Tile menu, tap Create Quick Folder.

5. On Create Quick Folder, type what the folder should be about. Examples from the app: gardening, Star Wars, cooking.

6. If your board has more than one language, choose Language for this folder. This does not change the language of the whole board.

7. Tap Continue.

8. Tap words to select or deselect them. Use Select All or Deselect if you want to change the whole set.

9. Optional: tap Add your own to add a word that was not suggested. On a selected tile, tap the pencil to edit the word or image, then tap Save Changes.

10. Tap Create Folder.

The folder appears on the empty tile you started from. If you were already inside another folder, the new folder is created there. Edit Mode stays on so you can keep editing.

Review and change suggestions

You can change the search after suggestions appear.

1. Type in Type to search or get AI suggestions....

2. Run the search again.

3. Select the words you want.

4. Tap Create Folder.

Tap Back to return to the topic screen. Tap Cancel to close without creating a folder.

If a word is already on the page, Flexspeak may skip it or ask what to do in Duplicate Words Found. You can skip the duplicates or add the ones you select.

After you create the folder

• Open the new folder to see the words you saved.

• The folder uses the symbol set and skin tone already set on the board.

• If the board has more than one language, Flexspeak adds translations for the folder name and the words inside it.

• To undo the new folder while you are still in Edit Mode, use Undo in the edit bar.

If you cannot open Quick Folder

• Empty tile required. Create Quick Folder only appears on an empty tile, not on a tile that already has a word or folder.

• Internet required. If you are offline, you will see that edits will not be saved, and Quick Folder will not run.

• Organization setting. If your school or organization has turned this AI feature off, Create Quick Folder stays in the menu but is dimmed. Hover or tap it to see that it is turned off by your organization.

Quick Folder is not Studio Quick Add

Quick Folder is part of the AAC board. It is not the same as Quick Add in Flexspeak Studio. For Studio, see Quick Add in Studio.
