Every Studio file starts from a template—or from AI that recommends templates for your topic. This article covers the create dialog and what each category is for.
Overview
- Create visual opens the template picker.
- Templates are grouped into Communication, Routines, and Activities.
- You can also start with AI creation from the create dialog banner.
Getting started
Open the create dialog
- In Studio, go to My visuals (or open a project).
- Click Create visual.
- Use the category chips: All templates, Communication, Routines, Activities.
- Optionally search templates.
Start from AI instead
- In the create dialog, find the banner: Turn any lesson or activity into visual supports.
- Click Get started.
- Follow the steps to describe a topic and pick recommended supports.
Template categories
Communication
Use these for talking and vocabulary:
- Grids (1×2 through 7×7, plus 6×10) — Classic symbol boards
- Sentence Strip — Build sentences across strip rows
- AAC Flip Book — Fringe categories with a core board
- Eye Gaze Board — Larger targets for eye-gaze style use
- GoTalk 4+ / 9+ / 20+ and GoTalk Connect 9+ / 25+ / Scene — Printable overlays matched to Attainment GoTalk devices (see GoTalk overlays in Studio)
Routines
Use these for structure and behavior supports:
- Visual Schedule — Ordered steps of a schedule with checkboxes
- Task Analysis — Ordered steps within a task with checkboxes
- First-Then — Two-step boards
- To Do / Finished — Move items between lists
- Token Board (Basic / Extended) — Token economy boards
- Social Story / Adapted Story — Story pages with images and text
- Contingency Map — Positive vs negative choice map

After you create
- Name the visual in the title field at the top of the editor.
- Add content manually, with Quick Add, or continue from AI.
- Your work autosaves—look for All changes saved.
